TCS3200 Color Recognition Sensor Module
The TCS3200 Color Recognition Sensor Module is a reliable and easy-to-use color detection module designed for microcontroller projects and Arduino applications. It uses a high-quality RGB light sensor that detects color by measuring the intensity of Red, Green, and Blue components. By combining readings from these three channels, the module can accurately identify a wide range of visible colors.
The board exposes all TCS3200 pins on standard 0.1″ headers, making it convenient for use with PCBs, breadboards, and stripboards. It also includes four built-in white LEDs that provide consistent illumination, allowing accurate color sensing even under varying ambient light conditions.
The module operates on a single supply voltage from 2.7V to 5.5V, ensuring compatibility with most common microcontrollers including Arduino, PIC, AVR, ARM, and other MCU platforms.
The left header includes S0 and S1 pins for output frequency scaling selection, OE (Output Enable) which activates the module output when held low, and GND for ground connection. The right header includes S2 and S3 pins for photodiode type selection, OUT which provides a square wave output proportional to detected color intensity, and VCC for power supply connection.
The S2 and S3 pins are used to select the photodiode filter type. When both S2 and S3 are low, the sensor detects only red light. When S2 is low and S3 is high, it detects only blue light. When S2 is high and S3 is low, no filter is applied. When both S2 and S3 are high, the sensor detects only green light.
This module is ideal for robotics, sorting systems, color detection projects, and automation applications requiring accurate and affordable color sensing.
