The MAX6675 Module with K-Type Thermocouple Sensor is a high-temperature measurement solution designed for precise and reliable temperature sensing in industrial, laboratory, and DIY applications. It is based on the Maxim MAX6675 K-thermocouple-to-digital converter IC, which converts the small millivolt signal from a K-type thermocouple into a digital output that can be easily read by a microcontroller using an SPI-compatible interface.
This module provides 12-bit resolution and supports temperature measurements from 0°C to 1024°C, with a resolution of 0.25°C per step. While the MAX6675 IC supports readings up to 1024°C, the supplied K-type thermocouple probe typically supports temperatures up to approximately 450°C, making it suitable for most practical heating and monitoring applications.
The board includes built-in cold junction compensation, which ensures accurate readings by automatically adjusting for ambient temperature variations at the connection point. It also features thermocouple break detection circuitry that helps identify open or faulty probe connections, improving system reliability and safety.
For easy connectivity, the module includes screw terminals for secure thermocouple connection and a standard 5-pin 0.1-inch header interface for connection to microcontrollers such as Arduino and other embedded platforms. The SPI interface typically uses pins for VCC, GND, SCK (clock), CS (chip select), and SO (serial data out), allowing simple integration into embedded systems.
The supplied K-type probe has a 4.5mm diameter stainless steel tip with a 6mm threaded mounting bolt for secure installation in machinery or enclosures. The total probe length including cable and connectors is approximately 50cm, offering flexibility in placement.
This module is ideal for applications such as furnaces, 3D printers, reflow ovens, industrial heaters, engine temperature monitoring, food processing equipment, and other high-temperature measurement systems where stable and accurate digital temperature readings are required.
Key features include integrated cold junction compensation, 12-bit digital temperature conversion, SPI serial interface, high-impedance differential inputs, thermocouple break detection, and up to 2000V ESD protection for improved durability and noise immunity.
