• This is a 3mm Blue DIP LED, a two-lead semiconductor light source that emits light when activated. When a sufficient voltage is applied to the LED terminals, electrons recombine with electron holes within the device, releasing energy in the form of photons. This process, known as electroluminescence, causes the LED to emit light. The color of the emitted light is determined by the energy bandgap of the semiconductor material used in its construction.
